THE NEED FOR AFRICANS TO RETURN BACT TO THERE CORE VALUES

One of the greatest tragedies of Africa was not slavery, colonization, or even economic exploitation. It was the gradual disconnection of Africans from their own identity. A people who forget who they are will eventually accept what they are told they are.

Before foreign influence reshaped our thinking, African societies were built on powerful values:

• Character was greater than wealth
• Community was greater than selfishness
• Spiritual balance was greater than blind dogma
• Wisdom was greater than mere education
• Responsibility was greater than entitlement

Among the Igbo, society functioned on principles like "Omenaani", "Ofo na Ogu", and "Onye aghala nwanne ya". These were not just traditions—they were sophisticated systems of justice, ethics, psychology, and social stability. Our ancestors understood something modern society is forgetting:

"A civilization survives not because of technology but because of values."

Today many Africans know everything about foreign histories but very little about their own philosophical foundations. Many can quote foreign scriptures but cannot explain their own ancestral worldview. Many defend foreign identities but feel shy defending their own. This is not progress. This is displacement.

Returning to our core values does not mean rejecting modern education or technology. It means building modern success on an African foundation instead of existing as copies of other civilizations.

Nations like China, India, and Japan modernized without abandoning their cultural backbone. Africa must do the same. The real revolution Africa needs now is not political. It is "mental".

Until Africans respect their own knowledge systems, moral systems, and spiritual systems, development will always stand on borrowed foundations.

WE MUST REMEMBER :
~Identity before imitation.
~Foundation before expansion.
~Self-knowledge before global acceptance.

Because in the end:

"A tree without roots cannot survive the storm."

"May we never lose ourselves in search of ourselves."
